Week 2

WEEK 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Is there a Brees in here?
Sitting a top the standings at 2-0 with a whopping 236 points scored, Brees and co. look near unstoppable in the early going. Even with starting running back Steven Jackson riding the pine with a pulled hammy, they still manage to post an impressive
112-101 win over 'Winter is Coming'. Using a balanced offense which doesn't rely too heavily on one or two players, 6 different players scored in double digits. Kenny Britt has 3 touchdowns and 270 yards in 2 games and is looking very dominant, and Drew Brees continues to be Drew Brees throwing 3 touchdowns for the second straight week.
'Brees in heres' bench however leaves much to be desired. Braylon Edwards and Lee Evans both have questionable injuries as well as playing abilities and talent, Crabtree is out, and although Thomas Jones just inherited the starting running back position for Kansas City there is no evidence that that offense will be able to do anything on the ground. It will be interesting to see how this team manages once the bye weeks start to become a factor, but for now they will continue to roll.

2. Polar Gooks
Altough they are off to a 1-1 start, it has been a very impressive first two weeks for the 'Gooks'. Dominating the league in points scored with 249, they are 13 points ahead of second place and 24 points ahead of third. On that same note, they are also dominating the league in points against with 246. By comprison, team 'Value Picks' which currently ranks above the 'Gooks' in the standings, only has 143 points against them, over 100 less than the 'Gooks'. So the 1-1 record doesn't tempt me to move them down in the rankings, this is clearly a very strong team. They dropped an heartbreaker to 'Jaquizz in my pants' this week 123-122 in what may be one of the most exciting games we have all year. The 'Gooks' were up 114-100 going in to the sunday night game with DeSean Jackson and Eagles defense competing with LeSean McCoy with the game on the line. Unfortunately for the gooks who must have felt confident going in to that game, DeSean and the D combined for only 8 points and blew the lead to end up losing by 1.
Don't expect this to be a regular occurence for this team though, as Stafford, McFadden, Vincent Jackson, DeSean, and Stevie Johnson have all proved that they are capable of putting up monstrous numbers any week and could very well lead this team in a playoff run.

3. Winter Is Coming
Placing two 1-1 teams ahead of the other two 2-0 teams in the league may be a little bold but I'm a homer. 'Winter is Coming' is sitting comfortably in third place in the league in points scored with 225, and that is with virtually no points scored by first round pick Jamaal Charles. He will not be scoring anymore points this year for 'Winter is Coming', he tore his ACL running out of bounds on his second carry of the day Sunday and will be kept out for the remainder of the season. A big shot to the playoff/championship hopes for this team, yes, but it is not impossible to overcome this setback. Golden Boy Tom Brady will need to carry this team all season the way he has for the first two weeks if they want to have a shot at winning. With nearly any other quarterback in the league it would be impossible to continue at this pace, but Brady is capable of posting godly numbers.
It may be a long shot without Charles, but this team has the depth, talent and heart to recover from the the loss. And Tom Brady.

4. Give Dem TD's 4 Thumbs Down
The highest scoring team of the week, 'TD's' also made the biggest jump of any team this week in the power rankings, moving fomr the 10 spot all the way up to number 4. The semi-unlikely trio of Miles Austin, Jeremy Maclin, and Cam Newton combined for a stupid 93 points, leading 'TD's' to an easy 136-109 victory. I'm still not sure what to expect from this team, but as long as Cam Newton can keep up whatever it is he is doing, this team should be in pretty good shape all year. It's scary to think how many points they can score once CJ is back at full strength and terrorizing defenses instead of his fantasy owners.

5. Value Picks
The lowest ranking 2-0 team, I had a hard time figuring out where to place these guys. They rank 8th in points scored and 1st in points against, so the path has been extremely easy for this team so far. But they have still managed to sneak out 2 wins, including their 98-86 victory over 'Accursed Grinder' this week, and they have a very intimidating and consistent QB/RB/RB trio. Aaron Rodgers is about as consistent as they come and is currently ranked 4th among QB's. Michael Turner is a beast with tree trunks for legs, and Legarrette Blount can hopefully continue to show his nose for the endzone that he didn't have week 1 but showcased in the second half of his week 2 game.
"Value Picks' is a little weak at receiver, especially with Mike Thomas and Percy Harvin severely unperforming expectations, so this should be addressed with a trade or waiver wire pick up.

6. THE REIGNING CHAMPION
Last year's champs are trying to prove that all they do is win, but so far this year all they've done is be very mediocre. At 1-1 and 6th in the league in scoring, theyre about as average as they come, but that could very well change in the coming weeks. They are scary strong at running back with AP capable of almost anything, and Matt Forte has been one of the best dual threat running backs in the league through the first two weeks, but the rest of the lineup has been very underwhelming. Plaxico disappeared in week 2, Big Ben hasn't been anything special, and Santana Moss/Reggie Wayne could both be very inconsistent this year with QB troubles on each of their teams. The CHAMPS are sneaky good at the specialty positions however. Thanks to Witten's 2 consecutive 100 year receiving games and the number 1 kicker in the league so far John Kasay, the CHAMPS had 7 of their 9 players scoring in double digits in the most lopsided win of the week over the hapless 'White Women'.

7. Jaquizz in my pants
LeSean McCoy led 'My Pants' to a thrilling victory over the 'Gooks' this weekend in what was possibly the most exciting game we could have this year. A 1 point nailbiter decided during the Sunday night game on another big day by McCoy, the best running back in the league through 2 weeks. Jhavid Best's two touchdown performance and Larry Fitzgerald's 130 yards and a TD were also great signs for players who struggled during week 1. This team is on its way up, and with solid depth on the bench could potentially thrive while other teams flounder during byes.

8. Show Me Dat Oh Face
'Oh Face' dropped a tough game this week to the up and coming 'TD's'team but there wasn't much that could be done about it. Austin, Maclin and Newton's freak performances sealed 'Oh faces' fate this weekend, but they did pretty well themselves putting up a very respectable 109 points. This total would have been enough to beat many of the teams in the league, but sometimes it comes down to the luck of the draw. 7 players scored in double digits, although I'm sure they would've liked/expected more from WB Josh Freeman.
With receivers like this team has, they have the potential to blow any team out any given week, so look for the wins to start coming soon.

9. Bad Newz Kennels
The Kennels were a tough team to place at 1-0-1, but with only 172 points scored, good enough for 3rd to last, and their win this week coming with an unimpressive 85 points, i wanted to be careful not to rank them too highly. The concussion on number 1 pick Michael Vick is also a very bad sign for this team going forward as he is known for being somewhat injury prone. Fred Jackson was a pleasant surprise last week and could potentially continue to have the great statistical year that he has begun but this team will need someone else to step up as well if they want to make a serious shot at a title. Frank Gore and Antonio Gates have been less than spectacular, posting totals of 17 and 7 points respectively through the first 2 weeks.
If Vick comes back from his concussion and starts performing the way he did last year, and Mario Manningham quits dropping passes, and Frank Gore can start to get a little more out of his 20+ touches a game this team could be pretty good, but right now they have a ways to go.

10. Rice In Ya Vag
'Vag' followed up a very promising week one performance with an extremely subpar week 2 showing. Big 3 Phil Cheese, Ray Rice and Beanie Wells all showed up and scored 15 or more points a peice, but the rest of the team disappeared in to thin air like a dead character from lost. Hakeem Nicks had 7, the kicker had 6, and no one else had more than 4 points in the lineup or on the bench. Scary for this team that they are so top heavy, they may want to look in to trading for some depth if they want to be a contender.

11. The Accursed Grinder
A very disappointing start so far for 'Grinder' has led to an early name and picture change. Although he is already looking forward to next year, there is a lot of potential on this team to win games this year it just hasn't all come together yet. With some smart coaching decisions this team could definitely be in the playoff hunt. RB Mike Tolbert scored 26 points in week 1 on the bench, Ben Tate scored 17 and 15 in weeks 1 and 2 on the bench both times, Willis McGahee scored 18 last week on the bench, Rob Gronkowski 20, and Arian Foster has still barely played. So although 'Grinder' is second to last in points scored with 141, there is still plenty of hope for the rest of this season if the right players are played the right weeks. Don't play for next season just yet.

12. Roddy Loves White Women
Coming off an embarrassing 113-65 loss to last years champs, 'White Women' needs to make some adjustments quickly. Ranked last in the league in scoring at a miniscule 122 points, which is more than doubled by 'Gooks' through 2 weeks, I'm not sure what's next for this team. Roddy and Rashard have not performed at all how they were expected, and Tampa Bay Mike Williams put up 1 catch for -4 yards in week 2. Those are the 3 best players on this team and they need to step up their game or I just don't see anywhere for this team to go. In their week 2 game they started 3 Washington Redskins. It was the most Redskins starting not just on one fantasy team, but in the entire fantasy league, since Clinton Portis was alive. Bottom line is if the top draft picks can figure it out and start producing this team might be pretty good, but as of right now they are frimly cemented at the bottom of the standings.
